This talk will cover the basics of film photography and is aimed at the "comfortable" digital photographer who has little/no experience working with film.
We will cover the following:-
- Film vs Digital – why would you?
- What cameras to look for, and where to find them (as well as their manuals!).
- Compacts, Folders, SLRs, Rangefinders &TLRs – What’s the difference?
- Lenses & lens mounts – mysteries debunked
- Film & its properties – colour vs slide vs black & white.
- Developing at home vs labs
- Scanning, printing & resolution (no wet printing - sorry!)
- Film sizes, from 35mm through to medium format (no large format – sorry!)
- Exposure – getting the right exposure with or without light meters
- Manual focus – tips & techniques
